Thanks for the thanks

As tomorrow is Thanksgiving here and this card came yesterday, a 'thanks' post seems appropriate.

Frances Ann Ferguson, grandma of our dear friend, Laura, is the source of the beautiful handwriting on the Lake Effect artwork. We sent her a copy of it to show her how it turned out and to thank her. She responded with yet another 'thank you'.

Now what? Do we thank for the thank for the thank?

Road trip?

Last night's show at Maxwell's was a good time. We said several times that the cool thing about playing there is that it's just far enough (across the river in Hoboken, NJ) to feel like you're out of town but so convenient to get to. Plus, they have great food for the bands and the nicest staff in the Tri-State region.

Makes a person consider moving to New Jersey...

Karl Blau + LAKE + P.S. + keg + trees = fun

After just a few days of home after Europe, we had a great f'ing time on Friday night, playing in the basement of a dorm on beautiful, Quaker, historical Haverford College. We're still trying to figure out how they're allowed to have kegs in there, even when the ever-present 'Quaker Bouncers' (seriously--they have badges) make their rounds.

The show was with old friend, Karl Blau, and new friends, LAKE. Such a fun night. Everyone sounded great. Karl with band as good as LAKE backing him is something else. And LAKE's set had those kids (and us) dancing dancing.

Special thanks to LAKE for lending us their Wurli when we realized that the power cable for the piano was still in Brooklyn (after carrying it down to the basement and setting it up).

Decompressing

It's only been a few days since we got back and I think we're all moving out of the just-after-tour-haze of 'Was that just a dream? It's so nice to be in my own bed!' and into the 'When is the next tour?' reality of remembering what civilian life feels like.

This cold, post-Halloween Sunday seemed like a good time to thank all our great friends over in Europa. You know who you are. Special props to our new favorite driver, Rolf, for putting up with us for 20 days straight and getting us everywhere safely. (Tours go so smoothly when the van doesn't get towed.)

Also seems like a good time to throw up all the pictures that we wanted to be posting from the road but couldn't.
